Need a Goal for Your Exercise Program? Tri something new!
2/27/2010

Preparing for an event is a great way to have a goal for your exercise program. Triathlons are not just for professional athletes and southern California offers many events to challenge everyone from the casual exerciser to the exercise enthusiast. This triathlon season, The Fitness Connection will be offering group programming and workouts to prepare you for upcoming events. Each training package will include a 10 week personalized program and three group triathlon workouts per week to prepare you for race day.

The first ten week race prepartion period will start on April 10th and we will be preparing for Redondo Beach Triathlon (on June 13th) and Carlsbad Triathlon (on July 11th). Redondo Beach triathlon is the easier of these two events. We will prepare you for one or both of these events.

The second ten week race prepartion period will start in early July and we will be preparing for Long Beach Triathlon or Pacific Coast Triathlon, which are on the same day this year. Pacific Coast is the more challenging of these two events, while Long Beach is more suitable for first time triathletes.

Keep Your Trails Clean!
6/25/2008

This morning I was returning from a bike ride on Aliso Creek Trail when I came across a skunk running scared up the trail with a plastic cup stuck on it's head. Apparently, the skunk was licking out some left over goodness from inside the cup and it's head got stuck in the cup. I can picture it trying it's hardest to get the last little bit from the bottom of the cup not knowing that it's head would go in easier then it would come out. I wanted to help the skunk but I didn't like the thought of getting sprayed (Marisa would have made me sleep in the garage) or getting close to a wild animal that may carry a disease like rabies, so, I left the skunk to it's own devices, hoping it would figure out how to get it's head out of the cup. The moral of the story... don't litter; if the cup was properly thrown away the skunk wouldn't have been in it's predicament.

Congratulations Ron on Your New Knees!
1/8/2008

The Fitness Connection would like to congratulate Ron on getting through his double knee replacement surgery. After working with George for four months pre-operation, Ron had his double replacement knee surgery on December 6th. Ron called George around New Years to thank him for his help pre-operation and give him an update on his health. Ron was already taking short walks. Ron's doctors were surprised at his quick rehabilitation and told him that it was due to his pre-operation exercise at the Fitness Connnection.
